Sally Kagan Winston – Fernandina Beach News-Leader

Sally Kagan Winston, 82, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., died peacefully Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Fla.

Sally was a graduate of Atlantic City High School in Atlantic City, N.J. From there, she studied nursing and graduated from the Albert Einstein Medical Center as a R.N. She continued her studies toward a nursing degree at Caldwell College in Caldwell, N.J.

She worked in her early career as a surgical nurse at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and as a psychiatric nurse at Overbrook Hospital in Essex County, N.J., became a discharge planner at Mountainside Hospital, and finished her career as the head discharge planner at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, N.J. Sally also served on the Board of Hospice in Essex County, N.J. and was active in nursing associations in New Jersey. She was a dedicated nurse and truly loved every moment of her career.

Sally and her husband, Joseph, moved to Fernandina Beach in 1994. She had many interests in art, music, and books. She was a talented quilter and member of the Quilt Guild in Fernandina Beach. She won several ribbons for her beautiful and creative quilts. Sally was devoted to her family and was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Sally was predeceased by her son, Jeffery Louis Winston, and mother, Sylvia Kolmetsky.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Winston; her daughter, Judith Winston; and her granddaughter.
