SHADOW: ‘ A LOVABLE AND DESERVING GUY’
Shadow, a “lovable and deserving guy” at the East Orange Animal Shelter, has been available for adoption since August 2017, according to rescuers.
The Bloomfield Animal Shelter – which is helping its East Orange peer get the word out about Shadow – had this to say:
“He is now 3 to 4 years old, super people friendly, prefers passive dogs, and is approx. 35 to 40 pounds. Please help this lovable and deserving guy find a home! To make an appointment to meet Shadow, contact East Orange Adoptable Dogs and Cats via Facebook or contact the East Orange Animal Shelter, located at 133 Midland Ave East Orange, NJ 07017, Ph# 862-930-7856.”

HANDSOME RAMBO: ‘GREAT WITH OTHER DOGS’
The Montclair Animal Shelter recently shared the story of Rambo, a 2-year-old bully mix.
According to shelter staff:
“Handsome Rambo is a 2 yr old Bully Mix. He is great with other dogs and a nice, easy-going guy. Teenage kids welcomed. We can cat test upon request. Montclair Township Animal Shelter 973-744-8600, emorgan@montclairnjusa.org.”
FREDDY: ‘RAN INTO A CONVENIENCE STORE’
As of Jan. 27, Freddy, a pit mix at the Bloomfield Animal Shelter, was still available for adoption.
According to the Bloomfield shelter:
“Freddy was found as a stray that ran into a convenience store in the middle of the night! We have no idea how he ended up there, but sadly no one reclaimed him. Freddy is approx. 1 yr old medium sized pit mix, who loves people, doesn’t seem to mind other dogs, and is learning basic training. He is basically a puppy who wants to be with his people all the time, is excitable, and needs a patient and experienced owner who understands puppy behavior. He gets very nervous in a cage so we wonder if he was crated in his previous home for long periods of time? He will require an experienced owner that will not crate him. As of now, we don’t recommend homes with cats and small children. Meet him during daily adoption hours Mon-Fri 2 pm-5 pm, Wed 2 pm-6 pm, Sat-Sun 1 pm-5 pm.”
BRUNA: ‘TIED TO FENCE IN BITTER COLD’
Beautiful Bruna is still looking for a forever home… can you help?
According to Newark-based foster group Brick City Rescue, Bruna was left tied to a fence in the bitter cold and now is in boarding. “She is good with bigger dogs, kids and is a super sweet, happy go lucky girl,” rescuers wrote.

BABY SHARK: ‘NEEDS SOMEONE TO ROMP AND PLAY WITH’
According to Friends of the Associated Humane Society in Newark, Baby Shark, a 1-year-old pit mix, is “a bit of a wild child” and is searching for a canine friend with high energy like himself so he can have someone to romp and play with.
Shelter staff wrote:
“He can be a bit mouthy, like any dog his age. With some patience, time and training, this is easily correctable. This handsome, friendly, outgoing boy loves toys, happily chasing the tennis ball around our evaluation room. He had no issues sharing either his toy or bone whenever asked and was a perfect gentleman at his food bowl. Baby Shark did well with the female dogs he met outside.”
BUTTERS: ‘JUST A LOVEBUG’
According to Caldwell-based Rescue Haven Foundation, Butters is a 12-year-old pit bull seeking a foster home… or ideally, a forever family.
“This handsome boy is 12 yrs young, 65 lbs, people & dog friendly and sweet as can be!” the nonprofit wrote. “Butters is just a LoveBug who would love to cuddle with you and be your best friend.”
If you think that Butters may be that special boy for you, you can fill out an application at rescuehaven.org.
ARIES: ‘EXTREMELY PEOPLE-FOCUSED’
Aries, a 3-year-old pit mix at the Associated Humane Society in Newark, is extremely people focused and can often be found leaning for extra pets and attention, according to the AHS-Newark branch.
According to the shelter:
“Aries sat and offered paw for a treat, which he accepted softly from our fingers. He loves to play, holding onto his toys and bone for a game of tug of war. Aries had no issues sharing his food bowl with our evaluator. He was relaxed with a male dog that was a bit snappy with him outside. If you have any potential canine siblings for Aries, bring them down to the shelter for a meet and greet to ensure they are a good match.”
