On Saturday, November 30, 2019, the NDD will kick off the holiday season with its 6th Annual Holiday Tree Lighting in Washington Park. There will be opportunities to sing along with Victorian carolers, dance to a live DJ, watch ice-carving demonstrations, and enjoy holiday-themed arts and crafts, bounce houses, and a trackless train. The park will be filled with food trucks and community partners offering complimentary hot beverages to keep attendees warm. The festivities will begin at 4:00 pm and at 5:30 pm, Anthony McMillan, CEO of the NDD, and the Honorable Mayor Ras J. Baraka, will do the honors of lighting the 40-foot tree.
