4 Die In Crashes, 2 Bodies Found, 1 Shot, 5 Drown In New Jersey

Twelve people died in less than 48 hours in a series of heart-wrenching incidents throughout New Jersey. Four people died as a result of crashes, two bodies were found and three people drowned. Another man who was on a tubing trip is missing.

Thirteen people were also rescued late Wednesday after a boat capsized in the Delaware River near Croydon, according to reports. The 13 people rescued were mostly children.

And a falling tree branch hit and injured a Chatham Borough resident during an Independence Day party on Tuesday, Chatham police said.

North Jersey Woman Drowns At island Beach State Park

A Cliffside Park woman apparently drowned after she swam on an unguarded beach here on the Fourth of July, a spokesman for the state Department of Environmental Protection said.

Isabel Alverio, 66, was in the water on Wednesday afternoon when family members and other park visitors saw she was in distress and pulled her to shore, said DEP spokesman Larry Hajna.

New Jersey State Park Police and Island Beach lifeguards responded to the area at around 4:20 p.m. and began performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, he said. Read more here….

3 Fatal Shootings In Newark, 1 On Independence Day: Police

Authorities are investigating three separate fatal shootings that took place in Newark over the past two days. One of the shootings also resulted in non-life-threatening injuries to another victim, police said. Read more here…

PA Man Drowns In Normandy Beach On July 4: Toms River Police

A Pennsylvania man drowned after tiring while swimming in the ocean off the Normandy Beach section of Toms River on July 4, Toms River police said Friday.

Stanley Sierotowicz, 62, of Mechanicsburg, PA, was swimming with family at the Petersen Lane beach in Normandy Beach about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday when he became submerged in the water after having difficulty swimming, Toms River Capt. Michael Brosnan said. Read more here…

Woman Killed In Motorcycle Crash In South Plainfield: MCPO

A 28-year-old woman was killed in a motorcycle accident on July 4, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey.

The victim was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital early Wednesday and pronounced dead from her injuries, according to the MCPO.

Ruddy Custidio, 30, of Piscataway, the operator of the motorcycle, was taken to JFK Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.

Custidio has been issued motor vehicle summonses including driving while intoxicated pending further investigation, according to the MCPO. Read more here…

Man Pulled From Surf City Waters Has Died

A man who was pulled from about four feet of water off the North First Street beach in Surf City on Wednesday afternoon has died, Councilman Peter M. Hartney said.

When Hartney, who is also a member of the fire department, arrived, the man had been pulled from the water by a lifeguard about 2:47 p.m.

The guard had heard people screaming that someone was in trouble and rescued the man, Hartney said. Read more here…

Carnival Worker Dies Of Heroin OD

The body of a 29-year-old carnival worker was found Thursday morning, police said. The death was the result of a heroin overdose.

The body was found next to a Paterson trailer that is used as sleeping quarters for the workers in a baseball field at Paterson’s West Side Park, according to authorities.

The incident happened at 5:34 a.m. Thursday morning, when police responded on a report of an unresponsive male in the RV trailer in the park, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office.

Upon their arrival, officers located the deceased male and his girlfriend who reported that she discovered her boyfriend unresponsive and cold to the touch when she woke up at approximately 5:22 a.m., according to the PCPO. Read more here…

Man Killed After Losing Control Of Motorcycle: Police

A 59-year-old Winslow Township man was killed after he lost control of his motorcycle in Monroe Township on Wednesday, police said.

John DiCarlo, of the Blue Anchor section of the township, was riding his red 2001 Harley Davidson north on Broadlane Road when he entered a sharp curve in the road that went to the left. His motorcycle drifted right, and the front tire left the road just north of Winslow Road, police said. Read more here…

Man’s Body Found In West Orange On Independence Day: Police

Essex County authorities have launched an investigation after a deceased man’s body was found in West Orange on Independence Day.

A spokesperson with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said Thursday morning that the agency is in the early stages of an investigation into “an incident in which a person died” in West Orange on July 4. The man was found dead on arrival, police said. Read more here…

Man Dies After Pulled From Water At Duke Island Park

A New York state man died early Thursday hours after he was pulled from the water at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater.

The victim was identified as Fermin Franco, 52, of Valley Stream, New York.

At around 4:04 p.m., Bridgewater Police responded to a report of a possible drowning on the Raritan River near Duke Island Park off Old York Road, Bridgewater Police report.

Authorities entered the river and helped to remove Franco. Officers began CPR and all lifesaving protocols. Read more here…

Beloved Grandmother Killed In Double-Fatal NJ Motorcycle Crash

Kimberley Stoll had just about everything. She was a fighter, a grandmother and a bike rider. But most importantly, she had one of the closest bonds with her daughter that few had ever seen.

Then came last weekend, when Kimberly was critically injured in a double-fatal motorcycle crash in Hawthorne. She died Tuesday.

But before she passed, Kimberley, 57, was the fighter she typically was, and she battled through numerous surgeries and medical procedures before she passed, said a friend, Krista Nunziato.

Now those same friends are grieving, and remembering Kimberly, and also looking for ways to celebrate the lives of the Hawthorne resident and 49-year-old Ramsey resident, Kasey Checke, who was also riding on the bike and died in the motorcycle crash. Teen Drowning Death In South Jersey As Tragic Trend Continues

Another teen has died in a water-related death this week, continuing a disturbing trend in New Jersey.

The incident happened on Tuesday at approximately 4:28 pm, when officers from Hamilton Police Department responded to the Atlantic County Park, at Weymouth Furnace, on Weymouth Road on a report of a possible drowning. Read more here…

Union County Man Disappears On July 4 Tubing Trip

Authorities are continuing their search of a Union County man that went missing during a tubing trip on the Delaware River on Wednesday afternoon.

Divers, Pennsylvania State Police helicopters and emergency responders began the search around 1 p.m. on the Delaware River near Royal Manor Road and Route 611 in Williams Township, Northampton County, according to lehighvalleylive.com.

The man from Elizabeth was reportedly on a guided tubing party when the incident happened, according to Lehigh Valley Live. Read more here…
