3 Updates From The Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex – Patch.com
CALDWELLS, NJ — The Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex recently got a virtual visit from a member of the Essex County Board of Commissioners, Brendan Gill.
During one of the group’s weekly meetings earlier this month, Gill, the former president of the board, offered updates on the county’s coronavirus response, including its five vaccination facilities.
Gill also spoke about other COVID-19 relief efforts in the county, including an ongoing series of free testing events and emergency food distributions.
Gill offered other updates during the virtual event, including details about the 2021 county budget and upcoming improvements at the Turtle Back Zoo, the South Mountain Reservation Area, the North Caldwell dog park and the Essex County Environmental Center.

The Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex will hold a virtual whiskey tasting event in partnership with the Cloverleaf Tavern on Thursday, April 8 at 6 p.m.
Participants can call the Cloverleaf to reserve their kit and pick up on the day of the event prior to 5 p.m. The event will be hosted on Zoom and feature master distiller/co-founder Sean Josephs, of Pinhook American Whiskey.
The $55 Zoom session includes:
- One 750mL bottle Pinhook Bohemian Bourbon
- Old Fashioned Cocktail Kit (Learn how to make the perfect Old Fashioned)
- One hour session of education and tasting
- 2oz Taste of Pinhook Rye’d on 2020
- Meat & Cheese Charcuterie Plate
CAR SEAT SAFETY
The Kiwanis Club of Caldwell-West Essex, along with Safe Kids- NNJ, will be hosting a Car Seat Safety Event for local residents on Saturday, April 17 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the old PNC Bank location, 423 Bloomfield Avenue, Caldwell.
There will be no charge to have your seat inspected, organizers said. Learn more about this event here.
According to a news release:
“Certified car seat techs from the Bloomfield Fire Department and Safe Kids-NNJ will be on hand to inspect seats and assist in the correct installation of the same. Road injuries are the leading cause of preventable deaths and injuries to children in the United States. Correctly used child safety seats can reduce the risk of death by as much as 71%. More than half of car seats are not used or installed correctly.”
