3 NJ Men Robbed Armored Car In PA: Essex County Sheriff – Newark, NJ Patch
ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A trio of New Jersey suspects have been arrested and stand accused of robbing an armored car in Abington, Pennsylvania, authorities announced Wednesday.
According to the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, the robbery took place on Oct. 9. It resulted in $380,000 in losses.
After authorities discovered the suspects lived in New Jersey, the sheriff’s office launched a month-long investigation alongside members of the U.S. Marshal’s office, officers from the New Jersey State Police and the Abington Police Department.
Police conducted three separate sting operations to apprehend the suspects:
- Alberto Torres, 37, of Newark
- Christopher Flores, 35, of Newark
- Michael Vazquez, 38, of Puerto Rico
In addition to the armored car robbery, pending charges against the three men include the theft of over $70,000 in jewelry from Florida, the possession of four semi-automatic handguns and more than $15,000 in illegal narcotics and the theft of more than $5,000 in Apple products, the Essex County Sheriff’s Office stated.
Another person, Gianna Sanchez, 21 of Elizabeth, was arrested on a weapons possession charge as part of the police operation, authorities said.
All four suspects were booked and transported to the Essex County Correctional Facility, where they await further court appearances and other pending charges, authorities said Wednesday.
