With more than 50,000 people anticipated to attend, the 14th Annual Lincoln Park Music Festival in Newark, NJ will kick off on July 26, 2019. Along with three days of music, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in the sixth annual Sustainable Health and Wellness Village (SHWV) – an integrated population healthcare system that leverages health and wellness resources, innovative delivery methods and existing community assets to connect disadvantaged groups to essential care, services and support. In its first five years, the SHWV welcomed 28,800 participants who took part in free health screenings, educational sessions, pop-up fitness classes and much more.
“Since 2014, the Sustainable Health and Wellness Village grew from a three-day program into year-round, healthcare initiative that has adhered to its founding mission of engaging, educating and empowering vulnerable populations,” said Keith DaCosta, Managing Director, CareSparc Consulting, Inc., and Director of Sustainable Health and Wellness Initiatives, Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District. “Our cross-sector of collaborative partnerships have positively impacted the members of the communities we serve by connecting them with the essential healthcare services, products and resources they need.”
The SHWV plans to conduct more than 3,500 health screenings, tests, educational sessions and other medical actions and will award in-kind prizes valued at more than $10,000. Each day will focus on a different audience – July 26 will cater to senior health, July 27 is slated to focus on the modern family and July 28 will focus on multicultural and multigenerational men’s health. The SHWV will be open from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. each day of the event.
During all three days of the festival, the SHWV will offer resources for veterans and their families at the 2ndAnnual Veterans Resource Village (VRV). The VRV provides veterans and their families with resources that will empower them to achieve physical, psychological and emotional health. The VRV coordinates veteran services along the full spectrum of preventative, emergent, and rehabilitative healthcare modalities in a meaningful way.
Throughout the festival, participants can also take a break from the music to participate in pop-up fitness classes as well as a Job Resource Village.
This year, the SHWV has drawn its largest number of sponsors since its inception, with Whole Foods Market serving as the main sponsor. “We are proud to partner with Lincoln Park Coast Cultural District to support their year-long Sustainable Health and Wellness Initiative, with funds raised from a multi-store Community Giving Day,” said a Whole Foods Market representative. “This partnership truly highlights our core values of developing win-win partnerships, supporting our local neighborhoods and educating communities about the importance of health and wellness.”
