2 Arrests After Cops From Montclair, Orange Hurt In Car Chase – Montclair, NJ Patch

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — Authorities have arrested two Newark residents who were allegedly involved in a car chase that injured a civilian and police officers from Montclair and Orange last week, prosecutors said.

On Wednesday, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Rajon Norwood, 48, and Kisha Eutsey, 32, both of Newark, have been charged in connection with a vehicle chase that started in Montclair and ended in Newark on Sept. 22.

Norwood, the driver of the car, was charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, receiving stolen property, resisting arrest by flight and possession of drug paraphernalia, prosecutors said.

Eutsey was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and receiving stolen property, prosecutors said.

Norwood is being held at the Essex County Correctional Facility. Eutsey has been released, authorities said.

Prosecutors released the following allegations about the crash:

“On Tuesday, Sept. 22 at approximately 2:30 p.m., a Montclair police officer stopped a vehicle for various motor violations. During the course of the stop, it was learned that the suspect vehicle had been reported stolen. The suspect vehicle fled. While fleeing, the driver struck a Montclair police officer. Later, an Orange police officer was injured along with a civilian when their vehicles collided as the Orange officer was responding to assist. The incident ended in the area of North 6th Street in Newark when the suspect vehicle struck a parked car owned by a civilian.”

The injuries were non-life-threatening, authorities previously said.

An investigation is active and ongoing. No additional information is available, prosecutors said.
