Other newly elected officers for 2021 are: Vice President Maureen Edelson (Montclair) Secretary Tammy Rossi (Nutley), and Treasurer Mary Waugh (Verona).
Essex County NJ Republican Women and Essex County Colored Republican Women were started 100 years ago as the women’s suffrage movement secured the vote for all U.S. citizens. These clubs smartly harnessed civic power to help send the first women and blacks to the New Jersey legislature in 1920 (Alexander of Orange, Laird of Newark & Van Ness of East Orange). In the clubs’ current, unified era, civic education is seen as the organization’s top priority for 2021.
